Nintendo announces a new DS, DSi today. It’s 12% thinner than the NDS as it doesn’t have the GBA cartridge slot. There are 2 built in camera, one with VGA resolution which is located inside the hinge and the other with a 3MP is located on the cover of the DSi. I don’t know what’s the purpose of the 3MP camera as most compact cameras nowadays have at least 7MP and 3MP is not enough if you want to print bigger version of your pictures. Besides, we don’t know the quality of the 3MP camera yet so we can’t really compare yet. However, if Nintendo were to integrate the cameras as part of the gameplay (taking pictures?), then it would be great.
The NDSi spots a 3.25 inches display (both) and it retails for ¥18,900 ($178). It will be launched in Japan this November, just in time for Christmas. The rest of the world will get it next year - 2009. There are two colors - white and black.
